For 2026, the Ilford Orloff Awards are judged across three distinct sections, recognising excellence in photographic stills, video and media work by independent operators and small crews, and narrative image-making connected to Western Australian stories.
Photographic Stills Categories:
The Ilford Orloff Awards aim to recognise and highlight the contributions of professional photographers and videographers from Western Australia.
Fine Art / Creative
Portrait and Wedding
Landscape
Documentary
Wildlife and Nature
Commercial and Commissioned
Student Award
The Student Award is open to students formally studying Photography or Videography Certificate IV level or higher, rewarding those choosing a professional pathway.
Video and Media Award
The Video and Media Award celebrates the art of motion, sound, editing and presentation by weaving technical and creative production with compelling narrative for independent operators or a small crew fewer than 5 people.
State Library of Western Australia Narrative Award
This Award celebrates imagery that is dynamic and storytelling in nature, evoking the culture and history of Western Australia. There is no time limit of when the images were captured. However, the images must have been captured within Western Australia. The emphasis is not solely on professional quality.
